About The Winner:	The Australian Business Awards are delighted to recognise Sensis as recipients of the Awards for Community Contribution. The achievements of Sensis, in partnership with Planet Ark, in creating recyclingnearyou.com.au have clearly demonstrated their aspiration to become corporate responsibility leaders in Australia. Since Sensis launched the site six months ago, as a ‘one stop shop’ for Australians to search for local recycling information, there has been an average 122,000 hits per month. In August 2008 the site had its 2,000,000th unique visitor. The site has featured positively in more than 73 media items across print, television, radio and online, reaching an audience of millions. Sensis’ contribution to the global movement toward sustainable consumption, and the challenge facing our society to consume less and recycle more, demonstrates their desire to contribute to their community. Sensis have responded to the feedback from their Business Index, and their own Environment Report, by recognising the concerns held in the community about global climate change. In their quest to be leaders in corporate responsibility Sensis have identified among their aims; to contribute to society in a meaningful manner, and to earn the trust of the community. This website meets these aims by meeting a genuine demand for recycling services.
