About The Winner: The Australian Business Awards are delighted to recognise Christians Against Poverty (CAP) as recipients of the Awards for Community Contribution and Recommended Employer. The achievements of CAP as an international debt counselling charity have clearly demonstrated their capacity to make significant contributions to their community with long-term benefits.
Since CAP launched in Australia in 2000 they have assisted more than 2,500 Australians and opened 15 local centres. They offer a range of services, free of charge, designed to release Australians from debt and poverty, with a focus entirely on community contribution. CAP has raised the standard of charitable debt counselling in Australia; no other organisation in Australia has offered a debt counselling service as in-depth or effective.
CAP have also demonstrated their understanding of the importance of their staff as a key component of ongoing innovation and success. CAP is committed to creating a workplace which is challenging and rewarding, but also great fun. Work hours are often made flexible according to each employees need. The voluntary “Smile Fund,” distributed on the basis of need, and the regular “Revive,” and “Inspire” days encourages staff motivation and team building, and promotes work/life balance.
